Question Ideas for Thursday

Here are some possible questions for Thursday. Add your own too!

What are issues/questions you see students dealing with most?
What issues/questions do parents have most?
What would you like to see on a website designed to help the student, parent, and the College?
What are key points that are important to you as a representative of Texas Tech?
What are some of your favorite traditions that are in the CVPA that students should know about that don't have a good turn out now?
Is there anything you would like students to start doing?

Who are we meeting on Thrusday?

As of now, Dr. Carol Edwards has agreed to meet us on Thursday.

Dr. Edward is the Dean of the College of Visual and Preforming Arts. She has been at Tech for about 2 1/2 years. She is a huge advocate for the student and the programs within her college. She has fought for fundings for the Goin' Band's new uniforms and being the representation for the band in school meetings that previously excluded the band. (Bowl game legistics). She is also open to any student, on all academic levels. Saying that, she sits with the Goin' Band at football games. She is out with the students instead of in the press boxes with the other deans.
This is one lady I have a lot of respect for. She treats the student fairly and with respect.

I have also invited Brian Steele and Kathy Nordstrom. As of now, we are not sure if they will be joining us.

Brian Steele is the graduate dean. http://www.depts.ttu.edu/cvpa/facultystaff/GraduateDean.asp

Kathy Nordstrom is the College Academic Advisor. Personally, she is somebody that has been very helpful when I am having issues with the College when someone "lower" on the totum pole couldn't help me.

What are important things to look for at the Lubbock Science Spectrum

  • keep an eye on what exibits are technicalogically out of date
  • look for signs and information that could be re-written and edited
  • look for exibits that could switched to a computer system/program
  • what activities the children are most attracted to and which ones are neglected; why?

CVPA/ENGL 4369 proposal email

Dr. Edwards, Kathy, and Brian Steele;

As one of the CVPA Ambassadors, I am coming to you with a proposal. I am currently enrolled in a Interaction Design class through the Technical Communication program. We have come up with an idea that will involve the CVPA and the Ambassadors.

This is the idea:
That we would create a website for the Ambassadors to use in recruitment to Tech. This includes all Ambassadors and Ambassador programs. We are hoping to use the CVPA program as a starting point. We are hoping to create this website to encompass questions for both incoming students and first-time college parents to ask to prospective schools. This site would also encompass school traditions embedded in the CVPA. (Goin' Band, art walk, etc). We could also have upcoming events, campus maps, and a questions area set up like Yahoo! Answers. This would be an area for students and prospective students can ask questions about the school and where things are found on campus. This would be easier to find information about Tech (etc) than trying to google or search for it on the main website.

Up keep would be the responsibility of the respective colleges and possibly the Ambassadors themselves.

If this idea is an interesting or a good idea to you, our class is wondering if we can schedule a time to meet with one or all of you at some point next week. Thursday afternoon works the best for our class.

Thank you for your time.
